Plotting Points of Growth: Teaching Practice

This page consists of the teaching experiences and opportunities I had during my internship in SMP - Sint Carolus.

It includes the procedures of teaching, time management, organizing activities, classroom management, and problem-solving while teaching and staying in the designated school througout my practicum.

Final Demonstration

After how many days of preparations, observations, studying, and research- I finally had my final demonstration!

Welcoming Class 7-D

For my final teaching demonstration, class 'tuju-de' participated very well as I welcome them for their Math class.

Opening Prayer

Despite staying in their laboratory for their classes temporarily, the class didn't see it as a hindrance to actively engage in their learnings.

Knowing my students mood before discussing helps me set up the tone and energy of the class.

Introduction to Learning Objectives

It is also important for the students to know what are the goals in today's Math Class.

Punctuated Lecture

The lecture is divided into segments with “checkpoints” at every end to give learners time to process information.

During discussion, it is also necessary to have the students participate and engage in the lesson through answering problem exercises.

Introduction to LKPD

It is now time for the group worksheet or Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD).

Five Sets of LKPD

The class is divided into five groups and each group will have their unique problem to solve on.

Group Activity Proper

Each group is given a cartolina paper and a marker to input their answers which they will present to the class later on.

Group Work Proper

As the groups prepare their solutions and their presentations, the teacher walks around the classroom to check up on each of them.

Output Presentation

As the group displays their outputs of solutions in front, one representative from each will discuss and explain their answers.

Calamansi Relay

This is a game of speed for each group to race the spoon with a calamansi on the other side of the room and answer one problem.

Sample Problems

Each groups gets the same five sets of problems, and the only way to determine the winner is through their speed.

The classroom was filled with laughters as they play this game while racing to answer problems from other groups.

By the way, this is a traditional Filipino game similar to Indonesia's Lomba Kelereng.
